There is a new pub in Alameda, out on the old Naval Air Station. I stepped in the other day, in passing, with a growler in hand, and came out with a plan. Unlike many of the local microbreweries with tasting rooms, or brew pubs, or pubs specializing in craft beer The Rake is the tasting room for the malt house. As a consequence all beers on tap are from their customers, and use malts made in the old warehouse behind (Naval dry goods store).
I was only inside long enough to determine that since they were not a brewery, they could not do growler fills, and didn’t can. What I did see was a cozy tasting room, learn they are open every day, and found they have a food menu. I have a feeling that this place will become popular very quickly
It’s not hard to find, just being at the corner of West Tower Avenue and Ferry Point; just enter the base through West Gate, turn right at the waters edge, and as the road swoops to the left, its the next building on the right, alongside Almanac Brewing (which is on Google Maps, but I don’t see The Rake yet).
I look forward to seeing you there, and I’m looking forward to trying out some tasty malty beverages.
