St.George? That’s the spirit!

An advance party went on a quick reconnaissance to St. George Spirits at Alameda Point today.  Those who showed up a bit early found their way into the adjacent building which is Faction Brewing, our local craft brewery.  Those of you who have known me a while know that I like The Faction and their beers (Kaiser Soze, Def Con 3, Puddy Porter, Imperial Stout).  After the tasting we stopped by The 1400 for a bite to eat.

St.George is not a new company, they’ve been at it since 1982 apparently, and I’ve been a consumer since about 6 years ago.  $15 gets a test flight of 6 short pours (about 4 sips per).  $20 gets a 40 minute tour of the production area as well as the flight.

Like any good tasting room they know the best sequence to taste, and start with vodka and gin, before moving to brandy, liqueurs and absinth.  There were 18 drinks to choose from, the notable offerings today included

  • Green Chile Vodka
  • Basil Bandy
  • Rye Gin Reposado
  • Coffee Liqueur
  • Absinth

They do mix it up a bit, and rotate out flavours, there has always been something I haven’t tasted before when I’ve gone.

It’ll be some time before I organize a group visit there, but if you are interested, then please drop me a line and I’ll add you to the invite list.
